Raleigh, NC (January 30, 2014) – Retail sales were higher than expected for December, and the outlook for 2014 is optimistic. In fact, local economists estimate between 2.5 and 2.8 million U.S. jobs will be created this year. In North Carolina, approximately 100,000 new jobs are expected and many of these will be in retail.
Businesses estimate the strength of consumer spending because it helps in planning. A solid forecast offers consumer confidence along with opportunities that strengthen communities. In 2014, the NC Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA) and its grocery division, the Carolinas Food Industry Council (CFIC), will support communities across North Carolina by helping high school and college students pursue their career goals. The two organizations, through the Retail Consumer Alliance Foundation (RCA), will give away close to $90k in scholarships this year.
Raleigh, N.C. (January 21, 2014) – Hospice of Wake County (HOWC), serving terminally ill patients in Wake, Durham, Johnston, Franklin and Harnett Counties has selected Media Partners, Inc. (MPI) as marketing agency of record for the Foundation’s capital campaign that launched in late 2013. MPI is a growing media marketing agency specializing in media buying, creative services and public relations.
HOWC will raise $6M to expand its Hospice Home, a 20-bed hospice facility used to care for people and families needing a comfortable environment and end-of-life services. MPI’s primary task is to develop marketing materials and secure paid and earned media to support a fundraising campaign vitally needed for this endeavor. Ten additional rooms are planned to help HOWC keep pace with the Triangle’s growing population.
